Maya Gatling

Maya is a recent graduate from the Musical Theatre course at Te Auaha, Whitireia. She is a seasoned performer and holds a Bachelor of Creativity, (Musical Theatre) and a Diploma of Performing Arts.

 

Maya has written, directed and produced her own show for the NZ Fringe Festival (The Leftovers). Course tutor Kate Marshall, encouraged and supported Maya in vocal coaching roles in her final two years of study. Her vocal tutors were Matt Mulholland, Craig Beardsworth and Michael Nicholas Williams. Outside of Te Auaha, Maya has been tutored by Erna Ferry (Jazz vocalist) and Ellen Barrett. She’s also worked alongside The Tiwhas, and is currently a backing vocalist for Jade
Merematira.

Maya is an Assistant tutor in the Drama classes at Silver Shoe Performers. Working alongside Petra, she helps to teach drama games by using skills learned at Te Auaha, manage the classes and make sure everyone is having fun. Maya’s vocal coaching styles are Musical Theatre, Jazz, Folk, and Pop. With this experience, Maya can help coach and teach potential students to embrace their strengths and build confidence in performance, stage
presence and vocal abilities.

Micayla Clough

Micayla Clough is an experienced performer with a genuine love for teaching and nurturing young students. Having started her own performing journey at just four years old, Micayla understands what it’s like to grow up in the performing arts and is passionate about creating a safe, encouraging space for students to find their voice. Her focus is on healthy vocal technique, building confidence, and helping students develop strong foundations that support long-term vocal wellbeing.

Micayla has received extensive vocal training in musical theatre and contemporary styles, and studied in Sydney at the prestigious National Institute of Dramatic Arts in 2024. She trained with leading coaches from across Australia including Jennifer Peers for voice and performance through song, and Garth Holcombe for acting. She is continuing her studies this year at Te Auaha working towards a Bachelor of Creativity in Performing Arts. 

In 2025, Micayla joined the Silver Shoe team as an Assistant Teacher for both Musical Theatre and Glee. She assists with vocal warm-ups, technique
development, and performance preparation, and is especially passionate about helping students overcome nerves and believe in their abilities.
